Hello Merbein Market bloggers. Well still have two weeks to go before our next market and we already have 101 stalls . Can't wait to get my hands on the tongs at our BBQ and feed the hungry lot. The pic is Fritz. He is donning his BA (breathing apparatus) set correctly in a set time as close as possible to 90seconds. Fritz is one of 36 volunteers of the Merbein Fire brigade. The set comprises of mask, air tank, harness and other attachments some of which are tally tags, distress signal unit.  The Merbein Fire Brigade is run solely on volunteer input. New members are most welcome, age group is from 16 years +. Brigade meetings are conducted on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Training nights are conducted on the 3rd and 4th Thursday of the month. Why not become a volunteer of this much needed group. Cheers folks Mickey

Lorraine's products are well worth perusing. Lemon Myrtle scented  body products are in abundance on Lorraine's stall, and she will inform you on the benefits of her products. Lorraine can be located outside the news agent store.

Scent From The Heart

Scented candles and melts are the products on sale here. These are a must to see. Not only will you want something from here for a gift but something for yourself as well. The fragrance and aromas are delicate. Sugar plum, Vanilla, Sweet Pea and Vanilla, Figs and Cassis, Baby Powder and Coconut....just a few to mention, the vast variety goes on.

Dougie's Seafood.  Dougie has a great selection of seafood. He boasts the best selection of Australian fish, all fresh and says that his trade at the Merbein Market is always good. So next month why not make a purchase from Dougie

Hello bloggers, well our March street market started of slow and BRrrr a wee bit cold. But it wasn't long before all concerned shed their knee rugs and got back into the swing of trading and from the feedback I received it was once again am great market day. I had the opportunity and time to get around to most stallholders and introduce our blog site. You are all welcome to place your comments and anything you would like to say about your products. I will compile some info each month from traders and put a blog on this site for you.

Sites are filling up quickly for our March street market. I will be browsing around on market day to compile news/feedback and maybe a pic or two to add to our blog site. Don't be disappointed if I don't catch up with you this market. See you there. Regards Mickey

Merbein Market volunteer saves hawk.

Thursday morning a little hawk was found a wee bit hung over. The little hawk had either been hit by a carb or crashed into the window of Bargain Basement. Volunteer Rob Nelson took the feathered friend to the vets where they quickly took over in haste to aide the hawk. We are sure it has survived and soon be back in the wild.

Merbein's next Market will be on the 17th March. For all attending whether it be stallholders or bargain hunters, don't forget it is also St Patrick's Day, so come in the spirit of the little leprechaun and wear something green. As usual we will have stalls of all goods, fresh produce, bric a brac, used and new goods, food stuffs, snags. See you all there.

February Market 118 stall

January market we had 125 stalls, February we had 118 stall
We certainly have came along way since we started in April 2008 with 32 stalls learnt a lot with some oop's in there too.
March the 18Th is looking like another large market with over 100 stalls again with new and different stall plenty of food as well as the food shops open for those that like to sit and eat.
Entertainment is always a big draw card with the likes of Geoff Evans, Chooka Williams, Sun Set Trio,David Goulay etc playing, Jumping Castle, Face painting, and Free Horse and buggy rides.With 120 stalls there is something for every one a lot of socializing and our shop keepers who open on the day, they comment on the carry on sales for the next week or so. So our market has certainly done what we started to do. So come along to the Merbein Marvelous Street Market on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 8am to 1pm.

Another great Market

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope all your wishes come true,and you survived our first 40 deg.

Father christmas arrived on a Harley motor bike that excited the young and the not so young, Christian fellowship sang traditional carols and David Goullet entertained with his easy listening voice. Iam sure we will see him back at the market. We had a pressies draw for the lucky stall holders made us realize Christmas was here.

December market went well with 105 stalls and lot of the public looking for the last of those Christmas gifts or a great array of local Fresh fruit and veg's. I am sure are going to be in great demand when the effects of the NSW and Queensland floods are felt. Its certainly heart breaking to see someones hard work and livelihood washed away. We wish them well and to stay safe.

January market is already looking like another large market with a great variety of stalls, craft, bric a brac, and the usual lovely fresh produce .The stone fruit are simply to die for any one guess they are my favourites, Our entertainment this market are Sunset Trio. Pam and Davids new venture ,with a stall selling Poffertj's, (mini dutch pancakes )are doing well , call in and have a sample, we have 2 sausage sizzles, a cappachino van and the food shops are open ,so there is no shortage of food. Come to the fabulous Merbein Street Market ,the largest in Sunraysia area.

October Market

October market another year just about gone, have you noticed the older we get the quicker the years pass. We had Jeff Evans back to entertain us and is still as popular as ever with the crowd. A lovely man and his beautiful wife Joy.

"Plant one on me"from Swan Hill was doing a great trade with all the Trees and Rose bushes. Rock on beside them with concrete garden ornaments. I do love these original names.

Well folks it's my last market as co coordinator for the Marvelous Markets.The poor old body needs a rest.Angela St. Clair is the new girl with great new ideas and full of enthusiasm. I am not going any where and you will still see me around as the Merbein Progressive Group inc. Promotion Officer and helping out where needed.Thanks for all the support in the last 3 years .Our market is only as good because we all pull together.We can all hold our heads high . We are the best and biggest in the Sunraysia

October Market

The weather was cold and windy the stalls were down. The next market should be better as the weather warms up, we have another new stall "Mini Dutch Pancakes"or as called in Holland Poffertjes So when at the next market call in and see Pam, David, and Ron, and try our mini pancakes. August Market

A truly winter market- cold and windy but at least the rain stayed away. We had the "Collectors" from the ABC and it will go to air Friday night television show at 8.00pm with Gordon Brown and Professor Adrian Franklin .They hunted in second hand and Antique shops for the unusual. They spent some of their dollars,and cheered the brave stall holders who stood in the cold and wind.

Next market 19Th September we have a young lady from Bendigo singing. kim Rictchie is a blind and her dog travels with her, Kim has a pleasant voice that has shades of Patsy Cline.
Our interstate stalls are increasing with each market. They come from Melbourne, Adelaide, Swan Hill, Broken Hill, Loxton, Berrie. the Merbein Street Market has increased to be the largest in Sunraysia, all monies from the market stay in the community by funding the Merbein Visitor Information and Community Resource Centre that is run intirely by volunteers
So to next update, remember He who rows the boat is to busy to rock it.

Update at last

Update at last, our market is still as strong as ever averaging 110 stalls per market, with more and more interstate stalls. Some stalls from Melbourne market. Even through our town like all small towns is doing it tough our market is still the biggest in Sunraysia. Thanks to all our hard working volunteers.Profits from the market ,fund the Merbein Visitor Information Centre and Community Resource Centre in the main street of Merbein and where I co ordinate the street Market from. A much needed facility for the Merbein and widely used by locals and visitors. (Merbein Minutes) on 1467 am on Tuesday at 8.55 am by Pam Amey also comes through the centre as does Merbein Street Market monthly report on Hot FM 1067. So success is getting up one more time than you fall.

We have a great group of stall holders that make Merbein Market very special with a lovely carnival atmosphere. with some leaving at 3.30am to be set up by 8.00am and then pack up and the long trip home. Thanks to our wonderful stall holders. Next market July 18th see you all there. Pam

A another great market.

A large crowd at Merbein was rocking to Geoff Evens music at the Merbein street market on Sunday. To watch people jigging as they walked along the footpath, singing and laughing sharing in the great atmosphere of the day.

The roar of the Harley Davison's bringing Santa and his helper to the young and the not so Young was exciting, Santa and his helper passed sweets to the public that were donated by Fishers supermarket, Thanks.

125 stalls was one of the largest yet.

The food stalls and Dougies seafood truck did a great trade and were all but sold out. Merbein Progressive Group Inc sold tickets in their usual raffle that helps with the cost of the market. We also had draws for lucky stall holders who work so hard to set the standard of the market, there prizes were donated by our happy local traders.

We wish all those involved in the successful running of our market a merry Christmas and a happy new year. We will be back on the 17th January 2010.
